Will Write Soon
Will Write Soon speaks to a time when images were intimate objects, sent by mail and delivered by hand. Spend some time with this book, and the texture and poetry of ordinary life at the turn of the twentieth century come startlingly close.
Real photographic postcards (RPPCs) are halfway between a photograph and a postcard: artisanal silver gelatin prints trimmed to postcard size, stamped, addressed, and inscribed with a message. The practice flourished from around 1905 into the late 1930s, particularly across the American heartland and rural Canada, and the cards in this volume — drawn from David Thomson's collection — wander through farmyards, main streets, parlors, fields, and the small dramas of daily life.
From the collection of David Thomson with text by Luce Lebart. First edition, published in 2024 by Archive of Modern Conflict. 184 pages, softcover, illustrated throughout in black and white.
